High-fidelity finite element simulation of non-contact splices in column-drilled shaft connections

•Finite element (FE) simulation of non-contact lap splice in column-drilled shaft connections is performed.•Parametric study of factors influencing the behavior of non-contact lap splice is performed.•The FE simulated results are in good agreement with the test results.•Non-contact lap splice length and lap splice distance influence the behavior of non-contact lap splice significantly.
