Effectiveness Of Driver Monitoring Applications: A Comparison Of The Benefits Emergent Research Forum (Erf)

Numerous applications have been launched to help drivers improve their driving skills and increase their road safety. Examples include TrueMotion Family, State Farm, RoadReady, Life360 and DriveSmart. These applications motivate people to drive in a safer and more energy-efficient manner by creating a fun user experience, improving their driving skills, and providing the drivers with economic and altruistic benefits. However, the effectiveness of these affordances in comparison to each other remains unstudied. Therefore, the goal of this research is to compare the effects of these affordances on drivers' intentions to drive safely and more eco-friendly. This will be achieved by conducting a scenario-based survey experiment. The results of this experiment can provide design implications that improve the effectiveness of driver monitoring applications and propagate their use. They can also contribute to sustainable development goals regarding road safety and reduced fuel consumption by improving driver skills.
