3-D ultrasonic image reconstruction in frequency domain using a virtual transducer model

•A virtual transducer model is built for the focused transducer.•The non-uniform fast Fourier transform and deconvolution operations have remarkably improved the efficiency and accuracy.•The lateral resolution of the results can exceed the resolution limitation of the focused transducer.•It shows the potential for real time 3-D imaging.
