Impaired pulmonary function is associated with dynapenia, but not with abdominal obesity and dynapenic abdominal obesity in older adults

Key summary points Aim The aim of this study was to association between dynapenic abdominal obesity (DAO) and pulmonary function in community-dwelling older adults. Findings Most of the pulmonary function variables were associated with abdominal obesity, dynapenia, and DAO conditions. In the adjusted model, there was an association of reduced FVC, FEV 1 , and PEF values only with dynapenia. Message No studies have previously analyzed the association between DAO and pulmonary function in older adults. Further longitudinal studies may provide additional information and confirm these findings.
