Spatiotemporal Assessment of Evapotranspiration of Desert Steppe in Northern China - A Case of OTOG Front Banner.

In this paper, using MOD16 products, combined with ground observation data from eight weather stations in Otog Front Banner (abbreviated as OFB) during 2011–2014, the spatiotemporal characteristics of evapotranspiration in this area were analyzed. The results show that the Penman-Monteith model and the MOD16 product are suitable for evaluating the potential evapotranspiration and actual evapotranspiration of OFB. The evapotranspiration space in the study area showed a decreasing trend from southeast to northwest, in time, it remained low from October to May the following year, and began to rise after May, reached a peak in July, and then decreased to October. The regression coefficients of evapotranspiration and sunshine hours, air temperature, water vapor pressure, wind speed, and precipitation were 0.28, 0.31, −5.01, 2.17, and 0.02, respectively.
