This paper presents an engineering application of lightweight insulation composite panel in energy saving renovation of two original buildings. The composite panels were made of Reinforced Concrete (RC) and ceramsite cellular concrete (CCC - a type of lightweight aggregate concrete) with integrative method, namely CCC was poured following closely the placing finish of Normal Concrete (NC), the interface of the two layers integrated into a whole as concrete hardening. The RC layer was for load bearing, and the CCC layer for thermal insulation. A satisfactory insulation effect was fulfilled in the building by using the composite panel as external wall, and indoor environment became more comfortable and suitable for people to live in.In this paper, the manufacture process and properties of the composite panel, mounting construction process and main joints of the structure, etc., are introduced.
