Astramol (Tm) Polypropyleneimine Dendrimers As Norrish Type Ii Amine Synergists

Astramol(TM) polypropyleneimine dendrimers have.been employed as highly efficient Norrish type II amine synergists in radiation curing of acrylates. It has been demonstrated with photo-DSC and RT-FTIR that these dendritic polyamines are efficient synergists when coupled with benzophenone and ITX sensitizers. Furthermore, in air the polymerization initiated by these dendritic polyamines is faster than dimethyl ethanol amine (DMEA) synergist even under nitrogen. ESR experiments have revealed that the amine radical is rapidly formed at 135K. The stability and the rate of formation of the amine radicals under the conditions employed in the ESR experiments give a possible reason for the high reactivity of the dendritic amine radicals.
