The didactics of the mother language, centered in the formation of competent communicators, demands a prioritized treatment of the lexical content in the professors of Spanish-literature initial formation, since this it requires to dominate a considerable number of words and knowledge to use them in any communicative context, at the same time that to teach to others to learn them and to use them appropriately. The apprehended lexical content rebounds on the cognitive, affective and social development and it plays a fundamental part in the teaching- learning process; also, it constitutes the vehicle of transmission of the culture and a central element in the configuration of the individual cosmovision. In the article, there is reflection around the foundations that sustain the treatment of the lexicon in the declared context.
