Peripheral Interaction: A New Direction For The Omnipresence Of Technology

This article presents the theoretical bases that support the research topic of the ongoing doctoral thesis entitled Design for Peripheral Interaction in the mobile context. Considering that a recent and underexplored concept of Human-Computer Interaction is being analyzed it is relevant to present a review of the concept that allows the exposure of the definition and its main characteristics as a form of interaction. In addition to presenting the concept, this work is organized in order to show the relevance of the concept, the research questions that led to the exploration of it, the main objectives and how to reach them. The gathering of these elements makes it possible to present a concept that is extremely relevant to the current technological society, as well as the great potential that this area has to be explored in future design projects that wish to create interactions that seamlessly integrate technological systems into user's daily lives.
