Peripheral Neuropathies Due To Antitumor Drugs

The growing use of strong antineoplastic drug has created new peripheral neurologic complications that have become important. Vinka alkaloids, Taxed and platinum compounds induce frequently; peripheral neuropathy that requires reduction of dose or discontinuation of treatment. Clinical findings, incidence and pathophysiology of neurotoxicity are related to the mechanism of action of antineoplastic drugs and must be early detected with detailed clinical and neurophysiological examinations.Neuroprotective agents as neurotrophic growing factors show effectiveness in experimental sessions and could be useful in clinical practice.
