The scientific literature has reported that the use of History and Philosophy of Sciences (HFC) have been gaining more and more space in the school environment, its insertion can trigger several improvements for the teaching of Science and, consequently, the construction of scientific knowledge. In this perspective, the use of HFC becomes a teaching tool, necessary to reduce the reduction of scientific aspects, allowing to show that science is not ready and finished. The present study had as main objective to analyze the use of a didactic sequence in the 2nd year of High School with the insertion of History and Philosophy of Sciences (HFC) rescuing the contributions of Humphry Davy and Alessandro Volta to the study of Electrochemistry specifying the concepts of electrolysis, batteries and batteries. It was an exploratory study with a qualitative approach. The evaluation of the learning was carried out with textual production, the elaboration of a conceptual map exposing the concepts worked, construction and exposition of batteries alternative batteries and a battery of exercises with contextualized questions concerning the content. The results indicated that the use of HFC contributes satisfactorily to the understanding and construction of scientific knowledge.
