Phe Effect Of Coating On The Prevention Of The Growth Of Lichen In Humid Environments

IN ORDER FULLY to understand the relationship between anti-lichen coatings and lichen, a series of experiments was conducted to provide information with which practical strategies on eliminating lichen can be carried out. Various commercial coatings have been tested, including coated specimens subject to various lichens under controlled laboratory conditions and exposed outdoors. Observations were made by examining the amount of lichen growth on and near the specimen. The growth of lichen is influenced by the chemical composition and the heavy metal of the coating. It should also be recognized that the amount of lichen growth that can occur on an outdoor exposed coating will vary depending on several factors, including chemical composition of the coating, contact angle of condensed water on the coating, time of year when exposures are made, and effectiveness of antimicrobial additives.
