摘要
An experiment was designed to find out suitable metal matrix for higher, stable and long-miming BeO-beam current during Be-10 AMS measurements at Inter University Accelerator Centre (IUAC), New Delhi. Samples were prepared either by mixing BeO with metal matrix, or by co-precipitating Be-hydroxide and matrix of metal cation. The metals used were Nb, Ag, Cu and Re, and the effect of which were being studied. This systematic investigation shows the Be mixed with fine Nb powder gives rapid ionization and higher current than other mixtures, which is also in concordance with earlier studies at otherAMS labs. However, Be-Cu co-precipitated sample also provides higher and stable beam current compared to Be-Ag co-precipitates.
