Solar Energy System With Pumped Hydro Storage

This paper aims to introduce the pumped hydro storage method using in solar energy system. The basic principle of this storage system was showed in detail. The comparison of three different pump hydro storage systems (e.g. one penstock with separated pump and turbine system, one penstock with pump and turbine combined system and two penstock system) was investigated. Despite of the minor disadvantage, one penstock with pump and turbine combined system deserves thoughtfulness due to considerable reduction in the capital cost. The cost evaluate methods of the pumped hydro system was also explained.
