Optimal Digital State-Space Control of a Sirius Modular Current Source Prototype

摘要
This paper presents the analysis and design of an optimal digital state-space control technique applied to a Sirius (the new Brazilian synchrotron light source) current source prototype. The aim is to design a suitable control to meet the demands of particle accelerator magnetic loads. The modular current source comprises of a full-bridge converter series connected to a third-order low-pass filter. A comprehensive plant model is detailed and experimentally validated. The Digital Linear Quadratic Regulator is used to optimize the placement of the closed-loop poles. However, due to limitations of sensors, a reduced-order observer is used. Simulation results are used to compare the Optimal Digital State-Space Control with the RST control strategy. Experimental results are used to validate the proposed control law.
