摘要
Background and Aims: Cholesterol and inflammation are major contributors to atherosclerosis. Interestingly, inflammation of perivascular adipose tissue is also a risk factor for myocardial infarction. However, how white adipocytes handle excessive cholesterol, in particular during obesity, is insufficiently understood. We have recently identified the ER-resident transcription factor Nfe2l1 (also Nrf1 or TCF11) as a new regulator of cholesterol homeostasis. Here we investigate the role of Nfe2l1 adipocyte function and consequences hereof in vivo and in vitro.
