Clonal Hematopoiesis and Inflammation in Obesity

Background and Aims: Obesity is a risk factor for atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease (CVD) and is associated with chronic low-grade inflammation. Recently, clonal hematopoiesis has emerged as a novel risk factor for CVD. We hypothesize that clonal hematopoiesis is a cardinal driver of inflammatory processes in patients with obesity, especially with advancing age, which subsequently leads to development of CVD.
