Feasibility study to eradicate poverty in Bhutan through ICT

Bhutan's national prosperity is measured by happiness index known as Gross National Happiness (GNH) and it places every individual at the center of development. There are 12 percent of the populations under the national poverty line. For the underprivileged people to attain the basic needs, society can get involved and contribute in small ways by donating in the form of money, services and goods. The survey was conducted to study the management customs of the old and unused items and the willingness of the people to involve themselves in charity activities. The old and unused items can be donated to needy people who lack basic needs which eventually will contribute to reduce the poverty in Bhutan. The survey was done in using the questionnaire method. As per the results obtained from the survey, people are willing to help but they are not able to contribute since there is no platform which provides the information about the help required. There are maximum number of people who uses the internet and smartphones in Bhutan. With the growth in usage of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and willingness of people to help the needy ones, this survey has shown feasibility to help the underprivileged people through ICT.
