摘要
We propose a new design of luminescent solar concentrator (LSC). Five-layer structure offered allows to practically eliminate losses of the luminescent photons due to the reabsorption. Transparent to the sunlight LSC matrix contains a middle thin layer, strongly doped with quantum dots (QDs), while the layers above and below are undoped. Such three-layer matrix structure is surrounded at the bottom and the top by the layers with low refractive indices (predominantly an air). In the five-layer design there is no detrimental effect of the defective subsurface layer on the luminescent photons' loss. Undesirable absorption of the emitted photons is smaller the thicker the undoped layer (compared to the doped one) is.
