Nanocomposites Dendritic Polyamidoamine-Based Chitosan Hyperbranched Polymer Embedded In Silica - Phosphate For Waveguide Applications

Silica phosphate/chitosan-based dendritic hyperbranched polymer doped with Er3+ ions nanocomposite (i.e. SiPhDEr3+) was prepared by a sol-gel technique in monolith and thin film forms for planar waveguide applications. Dendritic polymer (D) was prepared by surface modification of chitosan (CT) via Michael addition reaction and treatment with tris-2-aminoethylamine to give (D). The properties of SiPhDEr3+ nanocomposites (monolith and thin film) were carefully characterized by Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), and high-resolution scanning and transmission electron microscopy (HRSEM and HRTEM), respectively. The refractive indices have been investigated for the prepared nanocomposites.
