"it just causes us to communicate more": a qualitative exploration of parent and youth perspectives on remote glucose monitoring in youth with type 1 diabetes
JOURNAL OF ADOLESCENT HEALTH(2021)
摘要
Continuous glucose monitoring (CGM), which continually measures blood glucose via subcutaneous electrodes, improves glycemic control in youth with type 1 diabetes (T1D). Technological advancements have brought about remote monitoring (RM) capabilities, which allow CGM devices to alert caregivers to changes in blood glucose via a mobile phone app. Whereas RM has been touted as beneficial, questions remain about the implications during adolescence. Understanding youth and parent experiences with RM may help clinicians and families harness the technology’s benefits without infringing upon youth’s developmental need for independence. Accordingly, the purpose of this study was to explore parent and youth perspectives on RM.
