Hydrolytic Stability and Photostability of Boron Complexes of Dibenzoylmethane with Various Substituents at the Boron Atom

The basic photophysical characteristics and the hydrolytic stability and photostability of dibenzoylmethanatoboron complexes containing various substituents at the boron atom have been studied. It has been found that the hydrolytic stability of these complexes increases in the order DBMBO < DBMBF 2 < DBMB(C 6 F 5 ) 2 . The rate constants of the hydrolysis reaction and the energy ( E A ), enthalpy (Δ H ≠ ), and entropy (Δ S ≠ ) of activation have been calculated from the data obtained. The study of the photostability of boron complexes of dibenzoylmethane showed that the photodegradation of these compounds in acetonitrile increases in the order DBMBF 2 < DBMBO < DBMB(C 6 F 5 ) 2 and correlates with the change in Δ H ≠ of hydrolysis.
