Influence of growing-phase supplementation strategies on intake and performance of different beef cattle genotypes in finishing phase on pasture or feedlot

•The Forage DM intake was greater in ½ Senepol than Nellore and ½ Angus.•Feedlot-based finishing system improve the final carcass weight in ½ Angus and Nellore bulls.•Crossing Nellore with Bos taurus breed may be a strategy to improve finishing performance and carcass characteristics.•Corn-based supplementation during the growing phase improve body weight at finishing phase.
