EDUCATIONAL STRATEGIES BASED ON LOW-COST PLATFORMS IN THE AREA OF COMPUTER ENGINEERING

Abstract
Nowadays, there is a great diversity of low-cost computing platforms that can be used as resources in the studies of Computer Engineering. Raspberry Pi and some models of Arduino, both based on ARM processors, are representative examples of this kind of platforms that, thanks to their low cost, can be studied and used by students in subjects of Computer Science. In this work, the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) teaching methodology, supported by low-cost computing platforms, has been proposed to motivate students of Computer Engineering. Specifically, it has been applied to two subjects, one of them framed within the MSc in Technologies and Applications in Computer Engineering and the other one within the BSc in Computer Science.
