Modeling and Performance Analysis of a Parallel Solar Hybrid Micro Gas Turbine

Micro Gas Turbine (mGT) combined with solar energy, is a highly promising technology for small-scale electric power generations in remote areas. In mGT state-of-the-art cycle development, system simulations of steady and transient operation points are favorable for predicting the performance by approximating mass flow, pressure, and temperature data. Moreover, the control system analysis is a benefit to support cycle optimization efforts by evaluating the sensitivity of component performance on mGT system. In this paper, the performance of a Parallel Solar Hybrid Micro Gas Turbine (SHGT) based on parabolic dish is studied through system analyses using Solar Heat and Biogas as a fuel in GT-Suite software environment. A thermodynamic model of the SHGT has been validated using performance data of a turbocharger scaled up to the available performance data of the commercial mGT Turbec T100. In the parallel configuration system using a throttle angle valve to control for different air mass flow rates and different combustor-solar receiver outlet temperature, which is limited by the maximum permissible temperature of the standard piping material. The simulation result shows that using parallel configuration system has a highly promising than the conventional one, due to the parallel configuration system has a variation to enhance an electrical efficiency.
