Cts And Ctsa: In Search Of A Differentiation

Critical studies that seek to broaden the view of the role of science and technology in society have been expanded, among them the Science, Technology and Society (CTS) and Science, Technology, Society and Environment (CTSA). In order to demarcate its limits the present article analyzed its characteristics and from there, proposed a compromise solution to distinguish the CTSA in relation to CTS. For that, a descriptive, qualitative approach was carried out using the bibliographic analysis strategy. As a result, the following principles have been proposed: to understand reality in a systemic way; understand reality as a social historical process; recognize and respect plurality, diversity and culture; aiming at solving social demands; learning, participation and involvement; rethinking educational practices; stimulate the strengthening of a critical awareness of environmental and social issues.
