Thermo-chemical conversion of cannabis biomass and extraction by pressurized liquid extraction for the isolation of cannabidiol

•Thermo-chemical conversion of cannabidiolic acid to cannabidiol was 99.0 % effective.•Extraction and purification resulted in 91.8 % pure cannabidiol crystals.•Loss of cannabidiol over the entire process was 22 %.•Pressurized-liquid extraction is efficient for the decarboxylation of cannabinoids.
