Fluid Responsiveness in the Critically Ill Patient

Accurate assessment of intravascular volume status in critically ill patients remains a very challenging task. Recent data have shown adverse outcomes in critically ill patients with either inadequate or overaggressive fluid therapy. Understanding the tools and techniques available for accurate volume assessment is imperative.
