A fast and secure MP3 steganographic scheme with multi-domain

•A new MP3 steganographic strategy is proposed for convert communication with short time-consuming and high embedding capacity.•Multi-domain embedding is realized for MP3 steganography, which enlarges the embedding capacity and spreads the modifications.•The embedding method is able to get rid of the MP3 encoder and further avoid the problems of re-compression.•The distortion function is designed based on the statistical properties of the inter and intra frames for better security.
