Establishment of a real-time Recombinase Polymerase Amplification (RPA) for the detection of decapod iridescent virus 1 (DIV1)

•A real-time RPA assay was developed for rapid detection of decapod iridescent virus 1 (DIV1) infecting shrimps.•The detection limit of the real-time RPA assay was 2.3 × 101 copies/reaction and no cross-reactivity was observed.•4 out of 45 shrimp samples were tested positive for DIV1 by real-time RPA, which was consistent with results from nested PCR.
