Abstract
A differential-fed hybrid antenna with radiation pattern reconfigurability and broadband feature is investigated in this paper. The antenna consists of an anisotropic dielectric resonator (DR) and a dielectric patch (DP). The antenna is designed to be switched between two states: one state is a dielectric patch antenna (DPA) excited with its TM121 & TM131 modes for broadside radiation, another is a dielectric resonator antenna (DRA) with its TE1 delta 1 & HEM12 delta modes for dual directional radiation. Furthermore, the proposed antenna achieves broadband performance due to the multiple resonant modes, which can complete cover D band and E band simultaneously.
