摘要
population including children aged between 9–11 years old tested positive to hepatitis B, 14% to anti-HCV.The prevalence was higher among men aged between 12– 49 years old with a prevalence of 25%, while women aged between 15–40 years old recorded a prevalence of about 15%, while 12% of the young people were positive to HBV, and 9% were positive to anti-HCV. CONCLUSION: The high prevalence of hepatitis B virus (HBV) among young people and children indicates a critical mass population that might develop chronic hepatitis infection over time, and it reveals a gap in the mass HBV immunization programs of government. More efficacious treatments, mass immunization programs, and safe injection techniques are essential for eliminating HBV infection and reducing global HBV related morbidity and mortality. The prevalence was not concentrated, but wide spread among the general population in both rural and urban inhabitants in the state. The study underscores the need for scale up of mass community mobilization and awareness creation on viral hepatitis, increased access to testing testing0s and other quality diagnosis that will lead to proper diagnosis and reduction in the rate of deaths from complications arising from viral hepatitis.
