Investigation the mean scores of aggressive driving behavior and its related factors in drivers of zahedan city during 2018-2019

Introduction: Driving behavior is one part of people cultural behaviors in societies, because it relates to values, habits, attitudes and other factors. Therefore, accidents rates can be reduced when aberrant driving behavior and related factors will be investigated in a certain culture. Method: Present study is a descriptive-cross sectional research which was implemented on 440 car drivers of Zahedan city. Sampling was done by convenient method using Driving Anger Expression Inventory. Collected data were analyzed by SPSS 22 software using Mann-Whitney, Kruskal Wallis tests and Speraman correlation coefficient. Findings: Research results demonstrated that verbal aggression mean score was correlated to age (p=0.04), also constructive behavior (p=0.002), physical aggression behaviors (p=0.03) and aggressive behaviors while driving scores (p= 0.03) were significantly different between two genders. There was a significant correlation between alcohol consumption with constructive behavior (p=0.003) and aggressive behaviors while driving behaviors. Also, aggressive behaviors while driving behaviors and constructive behavior were significantly correlated (p<0.001). Conclusion: Driving behavior related factors including alcohol/drug use, numbers of traffic offences-errors and gender can explain aggression changes while driving. Due to correlation between drug use and aggression while driving, also according to border geographical position of Zahedan city, high rate of drug trafficking, distribution and use of drug/tobacco between drivers in this city, it is necessary to investigate this problem, particularly in drivers.
