摘要

•Muscular progenitor populations including satellite cells were decreased in muscles of aged mice.•NIMA-related kinase 2 expression was downregulated in the muscular progenitor cells of aged model.•Decreased expression of Nek2 induced loss of stemness and Epas1 regulates Nek2 expression.•Aging associated downregulation of Nek2 was common phenomenon between mice model and humans.
