Generating synthetic 5G infrastructures with Infra5ynth

This paper presents Infra5ynth, an algorithm for generating models of 5G infrastructures representing the deployment of Radio Units (RUs) in the Radio Access Network (RAN), the architecture of the transport network and the capac-ity of its links, as well as the location and capacity of compute resources in the core and Mobile Edge Clouds (MEC). Such models are needed in the evaluation of network slicing or MEC deployment algorithms. Infra5ynth is able to generate a wide variety of random infrastructures to enable stressing all aspects of such algorithms. At the same time the infrastructures are generated based on standardised blueprints and specifications to achieve a high level of realism and ensure that the algorithm results are relevant. Example usage of Infra5ynth is shown for the evaluation of a Service Graph Embedding algorithm, highlighting the impact of the randomness of Infra5ynth on the algorithm's results.
