Generally, the Walkaway VSP and 3D VSP are to be processed, migrated and superimposed to obtain the well side imaging profile and thus construct interpretation, attribute extraction, reservoir prediction and others based on the post-stack imaging. However, the post stack inversion assumes that the seismic wave is perpendicular to the incident which not self-excited actually, while the reflection amplitude is the average of the different incident Angle amplitude of the common reflection point. Therefore, there is an error in post stack inversion with discarded rich lithology related pre-stack information. Based on the Walkaway VSP data of a well in eastern China, this paper focuses on the prediction on the elastic impedance inversion pre-stack of the Walkaway VSP by elastic impedance formula of Whitcombe, and the main technical idea is: using zero-offset VSP to pick up from preliminary longitudinal wave to preliminary transverse wave, and calculate the velocity ratio of horizontal wave and transverse wave velocity ratio to converse the well logging transverse wave speed. In the reservoir section, the elastic impedances of acoustic impedance in different angles are cross analyzed while the sensitive. However, angle of reservoir is identified. The three elastic impedances are obtained respectively through the angle superposition integrated with close range, medium distance and long distance by establishing the inverse model in the deep relationship among the well elastic impedance curve, horizon and longitudinal wave. Combined with three elastic impedances, the lithological parameters related to the reservoir are obtained by taking the logarithm to set up the linear equation.
