The city of Eskisehir has been widely developing in the sedimentary basin and therefore, buildings located in Eskisehir have several types of ground motions affected by the local site effects during earthquakes. In this report, we performed microtremors observations on buildings to estimate characteristics of building vibrations in Eskisehir, Turkey. To understand site conditions near the buildings, we also performed array microtremor observations on the free field. We performed array microtremor observations by small-scale arrays of 1.5 to 16 meters at sites, in which building measurements were performed. We applied data of array microtremor observations to the SPAC method, to obtain phase velocity of Rayleigh waves. And, we estimated S-wave velocity profiles using those phase velocity in the inversion technique. As for microtremors observations on 10 buildings including various structural styles (e.g. height of 7 to about 40 meters) located at different site-conditions above, we deployed two accelerometers on the top floor of the buildings and one accelerometer on the free-field. At first, we evaluated dominant frequency of the buildings, by picking the peaks of spectral ratios of Fourier spectra on the top floor of buildings to those on the free-field. Secondary, we evaluated damping factors of buildings, by fitting spectral ratios calculated using one degree of freedom system to the spectral ratios observed, in the process of trial and error. Finally, we proposed the relationships of dominant periods and damping factors against heights of buildings in Eskisehir, Turkey.
