摘要
Rock Mountain Spotted Fever is a zoonosis caused by Rickettsia rickettsii with clinical manifestations general and non-specific with high mortality rates when untreated. Although clinically effective against R. rickettsii, studies demonstrating the in vitro efficacy of doxycycline are scarce. This study proposes to evaluate the infection rate in monolayers of Vero cells infected with R. rickettsii and treated with doxycycline through bacterial counting and real-time PCR after treatment with doses of 5, 10 and 15mg of antimicrobial. Doxycycline treatment was effective with an 88.4% decrease in infection and a decrease in Cycle threshold (Ct) in the real-time PCR. keywords: Ticks, treatment, antibiotic
