Emerging Technologies and Ecosystems

In this symposium, we bring together four papers on the intersection of emerging technologies and ecosystem strategy, to help answer questions on how ecosystems emerge or change and the implications for firm performance: Which technological and industry features determine the potential shape technologies, firms and industries might eventually take? What role do existing or new organizations have in facilitating or shaping the emergence of ecosystems? And what are the conditions under which different players can gain positions of leadership and capture value from their contributions?
