Stimuli-Responsive Polymer Coatings

Stimuli-responsive polymers are an important branch of polymer science. Their ability to react to external stimuli in a reversible manner makes them a tempting target in several applications. As these polymers respond to stimuli such as pH, light, biological elements, temperature, and electricity, they can be used as coating layers on different types of materials in order to add more flexible properties. The stimuli-responsive polymers are used in food industry, agriculture, biomedicine, cosmetics, drug delivery, textile industry, and many more. In this chapter, some of the most important stimuli-responsive polymers are discussed and their recent applications in several fields are highlighted.
