Playing with Permadeath

Roguelike permadeath, a game system in which failure is made consequential, is growing increasingly popular within games. This research investigates the impact of permadeath on player perceptions of the surrounding game experiences. In games with complimentary roguelike features, permadeath may improve player satisfaction.
