For the automotive industry, proton exchange membrane fuel cells (PEMFC) represent a possible supplement to purely battery-based drive systems due to their power density and fast refuelling. PEMFC´s enable ranges similar to gasoline or diesel based combustion engines. Due to international social demands to reduce emissions, an increasing demand for fuel cells is observed.
