Influencia del sobrepeso y la obesidad en las discapacidades, el deterioro cognitivo y el rendimiento escolar

Overweight and obesity are a problem that affects human beings regardless of their age, gender or social situation. Constant social, political and economic changes have made their appearance more and more common, even at early ages. Therefore, the present theoretical reflection aims to determine its influence on people's quality of life. This review aims to analyze whether there is a direct relationship between overweight and obesity with respect to the development of disabilities, cognitive impairment and poor school performance. For this purpose, technical research was used as a methodology; and within it, documentary analysis, establishing a conceptual approach to scientific information from indexed databases. The results show that overweight and obesity predispose and trigger changes in cognitive development, as well as in the acquisition of verbal, motor and social skills in children. Regarding IQ and school performance, research results are presented that showed a significant relationship. This affects the patient at a personal, social, academic, labor and economic level, being necessary its diagnosis and correction at an early age; linking the family, the school and the government. Limitations encountered and future work are also presented at the end of this document.
