An Overview of Wideband Metamaterials Inspired Electrically Small Antennas

摘要
Electrically small antennas (ESAs) have been attracting many researchers owing to their compact sizes and potential applications in modern wireless communication systems. Considering that ESAs have high reactance, low radiation resistance and narrow bandwidth, metamaterials (MTMs) structures can be applied to the design of wideband and miniaturized antennas to overcome the above limitations. In this paper, the achievements in MTMs inspired ESAs are summarized, the research status is analyzed, and the future development trend of wideband MTMs inspired ESAs is predicted.
