摘要
The advent of wide band-gap (WBG) semiconductor devices, including Gallium Nitride (GaN), has enabled high device switching frequency (HDSF) operation of power converters in MHz range, leading to much higher system power densities. However, the existing microcontrollers ($\mu$Cs) in the market allow implementation of conventional control techniques with sampling frequencies up to few 100s of kHz. This forces the converters to operate under lower controller bandwidths without being able to take advantage of the HDSF. Hence in this paper, an improved control technique has been proposed for HDSF converters to overcome the limitations of the $\mu$Cs. A trapezoidal slope compensation technique has been developed to control a buck converter at 1 MHz switching frequency. Analysis and experimental results show the effectiveness of the proposed technique.
