The clinical effects of “Shengmai injection” on the elderly patients with chronic heart failure

Objective To explore the clinical effect of “Shengmai injection” on the elderly patients with chronic heart failure. Methods From July,2003 to July,2005,77 elderly hospitalized patients with chronic heart failure were chose.All patients were divided randomly into two groups.40 patients in “Shengmai injection”treated group and 37 patients in control group.In treated group 40ml of Shengmai injection were injected intravenously daily on the basis of routine treatment. All patients were checked with cadiac output(CO),cadiac index(CI),left ventricular ejection fraction(LVEF),blood pressure,heart rate and clinical symptoms before and after treatment. Results After giving Shengmai injection for 14 days,the total effective rates were 87.50% in treated group and 64.86% in control group(P0.05).CO, CI, LVEF and heart function in Shengmai injection treated group were significantly improved(P0.05). Conclusions Using Shengmai injection on the basis of conventional therapy can improve the clinical conditions and left ventricular systolic function of patients with chronic heart failure.
