Given Swails et al. finding that junior staff tend to 'fail to fail', Rudland & Rennie introduce the potential impact of learner neglect into the equation. Whilst acknowledging the pressures and rewards for not failing learners, could 'failure to fail' also mask the guilt of learner neglect?
