摘要
High-frequency electrosurgical generator (ESG) is an efficient medical device that is used in surgery for cutting and coagulation of tissues. ESG produces high-frequency alternating current in order to reduce the stimulation of muscles and nerves. The main objectives of the proposed study are: (i) Design and analysis of ESG with cost-effective power converters; and (ii) Investigation of the effect of high switching frequency on the design and performance of the power-electronic converters. The proposed ESG consists of a buck converter (considering its parasitic elements) and H-bridge inverter connected with a high-frequency linear transformer. The proposed ESG is tested on various bio impedances to find the optimal frequency that achieves satisfactory performance. The numerical analysis and simulation results of the proposed study have concluded that, increasing the switching frequency in the DC side decreases the efficiency of the DC-DC buck converter. Also, in the AC side, the rise time of the output voltage is decreased. It is also found that increasing the switching frequency in the AC side will consequently decrease the time period of the surgical operation. These findings can successfully aid in minimizing the blood loss.
