Improvement of corrosion resistance in steels for automotive and marine systems using ceramic coating by HVOF technique: A review

Steel has been the backbone of the economy for any nation due to its usage in a wide range of industrial as well as civilian applications. However, corrosion has been one of the major issues which affect the operational life of steel components, leading to losses in both economic as well as material perspective. Corrosion is observed to affect the life of marine and automotive systems exposed to extreme operating conditions in terms of temperature and environment. The current study aims to highlight the importance of the ceramic coating on steel substrate using High-Velocity Oxy-Fuel (HVOF) technology, a promising route to arrest corrosion.
