Connecting of conjugate microporous polymer nanoparticles by polypyrrole via sulfonic acid doping to form conductive nanocomposites for excellent microwaves absorption

The development of novel high-performance microwaves absorption (MA) materials is of great importance. In this work, we report a skillful strategy for the fabrication of polypyrrole/sulfonic acid doped microporous polyphenylene (PPy/SMPP) composites using post-functionalized microporous polyphenylene (MPP) as templates for the growth of PPy. The doped sulfonic acid groups have successfully directed PPy to grow controllably in MPP nanochannels, constructing a unique microstructure in which MPP nanoparticles are connected by PPy. The appropriate electrical conductivity, coupled with the improved polarization loss and impedance matching, enabled superior MA performance of PPy/SMPP composites. As a result, with the filler-loading ratio of only 10 wt%, optimal MA performance value of −56.3 dB at 8.04 GHz was achieved for a PPy/SMPP composite, even outperforming pure PPy. This work provides a new idea for the design of CMP-based composites and paves the way for their functional expansion.
